Raytown School District announces 2021-2022 Support Staff Employee of the Year
The Raytown School District is pleased to announce Mike Mikkelsen as the Support Staff Employee of the Year for the 2021-2022 school year. Mikkelsen serves as the lead custodian at Raytown Central Middle School. He has been the lead custodian at Raytown Central Middle for the past two years and has worked as a custodian in the Raytown School District for five years.
Mikkelsen was selected from 20 candidates who completed a nomination packet and had the opportunity to interview with judges. The judges described Mikkelsen as positive and intuitive. They also felt he was dedicated to finding the story behind a behavior. Mikkelsen shared with the judges, “Everyone, from a custodian to a doctor, deserves to have a smile.”
“In the time that Mike has led our custodial team, I have been so impressed with his dedication, drive and overall desire to do his job with pride,” Raytown Central Middle School Principal Dr. Jaime Sadich, said. “He not only sets high standards for himself in making our building look incredibly great but he also holds his team to those high standards and he does this with great dignity and genuine care for his team members.”

Before working for the Raytown School District, Mikkelsen had a career as a sales representative for large companies in Iowa, Michigan, Alabama, and Colorado.
Mikkelsen will deliver a speech at the District’s annual back to school Convocation in August.
