Raytown South High School’s Departments of Music and Theatre will present The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee
Raytown South High School’s Departments of Music and Theatre will present The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. The show will run Feb. 21-22 at 7 p.m. in the Raytown South High School Gymnasium.
The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee is a musical comedy with music and lyrics by William Finn, a book by Rachel Sheinkin, concept by Rebecca Feldman with additional material by Jay Reiss. The show centers on a fictional spelling bee set in a geographically ambiguous Putnam Valley Middle School. Six quirky adolescents compete in the Bee, run by three equally quirky grown-ups.
The principal cast includes Leigh Bass, Malachi Johnson, Jade Echeverry, Kayla Kittrell, Angie Melgar, Chance Moore, Samantha Parvin, Caleb Pennington, Shaundra Rhode, Michael Straws, Justice Thompson, Travon Thurman, Eva Wendel, and Collin Williams.
The crew is led by Mr. Greg Chafin as technical director and assistant direction and state management by Anna Hoffman and assistant direction by Shelby Hill. Other designers include Lyph Guerra as master carpenter and assistant stage manager, Sean Collins, stage crew; Gracie Allen, properties manager; Sophia Trude, lighting designer; Alec Snider, Brandon Navarro, and Adam Hendrickson, lighting crew; Samara Trude and Cameron Allen, sound designer/engineers; Madison Ward, sound crew; Zoie Cox, costume designer; Mackenzie Clark, Skyler Lea, Natasha Story, costume crew; Zuzeth Gonzalez, Christina Brown, makeup and hair designers; Paislie Rogers, Maya Thomas; makeup and hair crew; and Hanna Searcy, Brittany Reddell, Angelia Reddell, box office and publicity.
The Raytown South High School Music Department is under the direction of Gretchen Kemp. The Raytown South Theatre Department is under the direction of Brent Martin.
