Raytown High School Boys Swim Team Competes in State Championships
Raytown High School varsity boys swim team competed at the Missouri State High School Activities Association State Boys Swimming and Diving Championships, Nov. 11-13, 2021 in St. Peters, Missouri. The team placed 7 out of 41 teams in the state competition. Five Bluejays earned All-State honors.
Individual results from the state competition included Dylan Searls earning third in the 100-year butterfly and Ben Gippner earning fifth in the 100-yard freestyle.
Relay results from the state competition included the 200-yard freestyle relay team of Dylan Searls, Jake Talley, Luke Markley, and Ben Gippner placing fourth; the 200-yard medley relay team of Ben Gippner, Jake Talley, Dylan Searls, and Luke Markley placing fourth; and the 400-yard freestyle relay team of Ben Gippner, Luke Markley, Kai Hensel, and Dylan Searls placing seventh.
This is the 46th year in a row members of the Raytown High School varsity boys swim team have qualified to compete in the state competition.
The Raytown High School Varsity Boys Swim team had a regular season dual meet record of 12-0 and earned the title of Suburban White Division conference champions for the fourth year in a row.
The Raytown High School varsity boys swim team is coached by Jim Aziere. Coach Aziere is a member of the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame, has served as a coach in the Raytown School District for more than 50 years, and has a record of 559 wins, 88 losses, and 2 ties as head coach of the Raytown High School swim and dive program. 2021-2022 marks Coach Aziere’s 13th undefeated season.
