Eastwood Hills Elementary Teacher Selected as a Blue KC Sporting Samaritan
Eastwood Hills Elementary fourth grade teacher Amber Nieznajko was selected as a 2021 Blue KC Sporting Samaritan.
Each season Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas City (Blue KC) and Sporting Kansas City team up to recognize Blue KC Sporting Samaritans. The program highlights students and teachers who make the Kansas City community a better place to live, work and play.
Nieznajko was selected for her dedication to the Eastwood Hills Elementary community and the students and families it serves. She is a teacher leader, data review team leader, chair of the courtyard beautification committee, and head coach of a social-emotional running club for boys at Eastwood Hills. As part of her work on the beautification committee, she implemented a schoolyard garden and monarch butterfly waystation for students to have a space to learn and grow. Nieznajko is also a member of the PTA Council at Eastwood Hills.
Eastwood Hills Elementary Principal Amanda Coleman shared the following about Nieznajko, “Amber is a very deserving recipient of this award. She is a teacher leader in our building because she is exceptionally dedicated to her students, her colleagues, and the Eastwood Hills community as a whole. Amber is an artist in the classroom, connecting with her students and families in personal and significant ways, crafting lessons that are both engaging and challenging for all learners. She is completely committed to strengthening her professional practice daily so she may provide the best instruction for her students whom she believes in and champions without relief, every moment. I am very excited to celebrate her and this well-deserving award.”
Nieznajko was honored during the pre-game festivities of the Sporting Kansas City game on October 3.
