Students Earn Top Honors in District DECA Competition and Qualify for State Competition
Students from Raytown South High School and Raytown High School earned top honors in the district DECA competition and qualified for the state competition.
Raytown South High School students who placed in the district competition and qualified for the state competition include Frank Lopez who earned second place in Marketing Communication; Samantha Parvin who earned fourth place in Apparel and Accessories; Destiny Silvers who earned seventh place in Retail Marketing; Derek Porter who earned ninth place in Human Resource Management; and Kylee Simmons who earned tenth place in Human Resource Management. Other award winners from Raytown South High include Jada Pippen in Restaurant Food Service and Jamirah Cameron in Retail Marketing.
Raytown High School students who placed in the competition include Larry Wilson who earned first in Professional Selling and second in Apparel and Accessories Marketing; Kaymen Chase who earned second in Principles of Finance; Precious Love who earned third in Professional Selling; Kayla Robertson who earned fourth in Hospitality and Tourism; Leyah Colon-Hughes who earned fourth in Professional Selling; Donric Long who earned fourth in Financial Consulting and eighth in Business Finance; and Derreck Shinault who earned eighth in Apparel and Accessories Marketing. Other award winners from Raytown High School include Tim Cashier in Principles of Finance; Cortnie Fletcher in Professional Selling; Adrian Morris in Hospitality and Tourism; and Baylie Williams in Hospitality and Tourism.
The state DECA competition will take place March 22-24 at Crown Center in Kansas City, MO.
