Raytown High School’s Theatre Department Performs the Comedy, Rumors
Raytown High School’s Theatre Department presented the play, Rumors, by Neil Simon Sept. 17 and 19. The play was originally set to take play in spring of 2020 but was rescheduled for fall of 2020. Each student received two tickets per performance for family to see the show. The play was the first event held in the newly renovated Raytown High School auditorium. Renovations to the auditorium were approved by the voters in April 2019 as part of the Strong Bonds, Bright Futures no-tax increase bond issue.
Rumors by Neil Simon is a comedy set in 1988 outside New York City. Guests arrive at the 10th anniversary celebration party for New York's deputy mayor and his wife, only to find the mayor wounded and the wife missing.
The principal cast includes Tuesday Scanlon as Chris Gorman; Judson Hulme as Ken Gorman; Clara Bryant as Claire Ganz; Aiden Harkins as Leonard Ganz; Kylie Butler as Cookie Cusack; Joshua McCarroll as Ernie Cusack; Cheyli Ferbet as Cassie Cooper; Tariq Yarbrough as Glenn Cooper; Jesse Best as Officer Welch; and Allisiya Vaughn as Officer Pudney.
The crew is led by Mr. Greg Chafin as technical director. Crew members include Ms. Sally Farrand, faculty lighting designer; Clara Bryant, scenic designer; Jason Meyer and Cynne Soria, assistant directors; Phenix Watson, assistant stage manager; Tariq Yarbrough and Judson Hulme; business managers Emma Taylor, poster designer; Amber Johnson, stage manager and light board operator; Taaj Yarbrough, props designer; Rachel McCarroll, costume designer; and Kylie Butler, hair/makeup designer.
The Raytown High School Theatre Department is under the direction of Katie Kolster. Kolster also served as the sound designer for the show.
