High School Students Selected for All-District Choirs
Students in the vocal music program at Raytown High School and Raytown South High School were selected for the Kansas City Metro All-District choirs. Those selected will participate in the All-District Choir Clinic and performance on Tuesday, Oct. 26 at William Jewell College.
Raytown High School students selected to the Kansas City Metro All-District choirs include Clara Bryant who was selected to the All-District Mixed Choir. Bryant now has the opportunity to audition for All-State choir.
Trinity Brown, Naomi Gonterman, Marissa Johnson were selected to the Soprano-Alto Honor Choir, and Marques Alsup, Parker Cobden, Lucas Mayo were selected to the Tenor-Bass Honor Choir.
Raytown South High School students selected to the Kansas City Metro All-District choirs include Jayden Jones and Caleb Pennington who were selected to the All-District Mixed Choir and have the opportunity to audition for All-State.
Shaundra Rhode and Jerry Mitchell were selected to the Tenor-Bass Honor Choir, and Lazarus Murray and Teresa Straws were selected to the Soprano-Alto Honor Choir.
As part of the selection process to the Kansas City Metro All-District choirs, students must prepare 90 seconds of a classical solo, identify key signatures, sing a melodic sight-reading piece, and sing their part in a 4-part harmonic sight-reading piece.
Students from both high schools were also selected to the Freshmen and Sophomore Honor Choir.
Students from Raytown High School include Hannah Batts, Anthony Carranza, Victoria Olson, and Nigel Turner.
Students from Raytown South High School include Carys Shelley, Zillah Munkah, Ryan Lenzy, and Rome Richardson-Quarn.
The Raytown High School Choir program is under the direction of Alex Kolster and Brenda Yeates. The Raytown South High School Choir program is under the direction of Gretchen Kemp and Dr. Erin Lillie.
