Welcome to Raytown South Middle

  • Front of RSMS Raytown South Middle School, the district’s second middle school, opened its doors to students in 1958 serving students in grades 1-6 while school building projects were under construction around the district.  Gordon Smith was the school’s first principal.  At the start of the 1958-1959 school year, Raytown South Middle School originally named, Raytown South Junior High, began serving students in grades 6-9 in the southern part of the district. Throughout the years, Raytown South Middle School has been home to students in grades 6-9, 7-9, and is currently home to students in grades 6-8.

  • Summer School 

    Enrollment is open until May 7th for Summer School. All students are invited to attend at no cost from June 2 through June 29.

  • MAP/GLA Testing 

    • In-person students will be testing during the school day from April 26 through May 5.
    • All virtual students are invited to SM to complete testing on April 28th. Please plan to drop off your child at 7:50-8:00am, and then pick up at 2pm. 
    • Virtual 8th Graders should return on May 3rd to complete additional testing.

    Meals Every Day

    All in-person students are eligible for a free breakfast and free lunch during the school day. In addition, curbside pickup for meals is available at the front entrance on Wednesdays from 11am to 12:30pm. For more information on daily meals, visit the RQS Fall Meal Delivery Web Page.

    We recognize that creating a safe learning environment is a critical part of helping each child achieve academic success. Sprigeo is a new online system that parents, guardians, and students can use to report bullying incidents and school safety threats. Sprigeo will give our stakeholders another medium for communicating with our school administration when bullying or school safety incidents occur.
