  • HCC Culinary Soup Extravaganza! 

    We are excited to bring back the Soup Extravaganza this year! All orders must be placed by October 1.  Soup Pick up will be October 14 and 15. Please see the flyer for ordering details.   Soup Extravaganza

  • Drew Crosby Wins Malco 'Top Student' Award! 

    Drew Crosby
     
    Drew Crosby, from the HVAC/Industrial Maintenance program at Herndon Career Center, was recognized as a top student through Malco’s “Head of the Class” program.
    Drew was selected based on his attendance, participation and grades. He was presented with a certificate, Malco cap and tool gift, and the entire graduating class also received Malco caps.
     
    Each school term, Malco recognizes high-achieving students and entire graduating classes in the HVAC/sheet metal, building construction and autobody repair fields through the “Head of the Class” Student Recognition Program.
     
    Since 2005, the program has reached more than 55,000 students, including 3,000 “Head of the Class” honorees, representing more than 700 high school career technical education programs, technical schools, union Joint Apprenticeship Training Committees and industry association programs across the U.S. and Canada.

  • Application Open for the 21-22 School Year!

    The application for the 21-22 school year is now open.  Priority deadline will be February 16.  Check out our website for videos and additional information about each program.

  • Missouri School Counselor Association Administrator of the Year and Counselor of the Year Awards
     
    Congratulations to Herndon Career Center Director Dr. Cheryl Reichert who was selected as the Missouri School Counselor Association (MSCA) Administrator of the Year and Herndon Career Center counselor Nate Zier who was selected as the MSCA Secondary School Counselor of the Year.
    Dr. Reichert was selected for her support, advocacy, implementation, and improvement of school counseling services. Zier was selected for his innovation, leadership, service to the school and community, and program advocacy.
    Both Dr. Reichert and Zier will be eligible to participate in the National Counselor Association Administrator of the Year and Secondary Counselor of the Year selection process.
    Raytown School District and Herndon Career Center staff surprised both Dr. Reichert and Zier at a special socially distant celebration in the Herndon Career Center’s Institute of Culinary Arts restaurant space, Cinder. For more information, visit https://bit.ly/2GSOiXd.

  • Chef Mike Chrostowski, Teacher of the Year Speech

    Herndon Career Center Culinary Instructor Chef Mike Chrostowski is this year’s Raytown School District Teacher of the Year. Chef expands on the importance of making connections with students and helping them continue to pursue what they are passionate about. Chef also shares more about the Raytown Schools Culinary Arts Institute and student run restaurant Cinder. Chef was also one of six teachers selected as a Kansas City Regional Teacher of the Year by the University of Missouri – Kansas City Regional Professional Development Center.

    Chef Chrostowski led the culinary team to state titles in 2018, 2019, and 2020, a national title in 2018, and national runner-up title in 2019, and the team qualified for nationals in 2020. Over the past three years, students on the culinary and management teams have earned a combined total of $2,224,000 in scholarship funds.
